why does it represent the history of that time?



because this is the most known sculpture in the rennessaince time and his creator is considered as one of the best artists that has ever existed and much of his paintings had to do with religion but they were created in a way of perfectionism.

why does it represent the culture of that time?

Because there is no human more perfect than the sculpture of David, and the religious influence on the people. In this sculpture we can see the maximum expresión of perfectionism and this meaning being more close to the lord and the human being something close to be divine.

why and what does it represent something you really fond at that time of period?

The enligtment of the people and the human being perfect, those things I can see in this sculpture. and that after a war that killed people that were considered as vain, so this was a sculpture pos that war.

why do you like that particular artist that much?

Because he is a genius and all his works, should have no money value, there are the inspiration of many of today’s artist and those times artists, this sculpture and the XVI chapel are the most recognized piece of art he has.



Second partial project Fredele

For my project, I wasn't based in one particular piece of art, but I based on the whole concept of renaissance. What I did, was a series of writtings, two are cites of Shakespeare and one of my own.

The characteristics from the renaissance used are shown in the capital letters, the curves, the colors and the details that I used.

This pieces represent, for me, the whole concept of the movement, because in it, we can see the ideas they had (Shakespeare was a great example of a renaissance artist). We can also see the artistic characteristics, as I mentioned before.

I love the way Shakespeare writes, I like the metaphores he used, the way he said things and even his insults. This is why I citated him and decided to write something simmilar to what he wrote.

Why does it represent the history of that time?

I think it represents history because of the extraordinary architecture and dynamic shape, if you focus on the top of the church you can see the religious symbols over main entrance and the cross symbol on top of the church.

Why does it represent the culture of that time?

I think it represents culture because it’s showing what the renaissance is about extravagant new architecture and that’s what I think about the culture this church is representing .

Why and what does it represent something you really fond of that time or period.

What I really like about this period is that they try to make new innovations , that they are trying to express something new that we had never seen before create a new culture bases obviously on the past cultures.

Why do you like that particular artist that much?

I really liked this church mostly because of its architecture and dynamic design I think it’s a breathtaking site.

The birth of materialism

1.-Why does it represent the history and the culture of that time?

Venus, the Classical goddess of love and beauty at that time, is brought vividly to life.And in my pice of art, I contrasted this painting to modern era

2.-Why do you like this particular artist that much?

I liked the style of this particular artist and I found this pice beautiful and very something that I also noticed from this artist is that I saw that he has similar paintings to this one many of his other painting are nudes and women with the same facial expression.

3.- Why and what does it represent something you really fond at that time of period?

I personally like the Renascence because it’s the re birth of many things from that era and it’s a good  transition from the middle ages, since in the middle ages it was all dark, now its more of a thinking new era.

Why does it represent the history of that time?

It represents the history of that time starting from his creator the great Michel Angelo, and the piece itself that has special characteristics of renascence for example the proportions of the body

Why does it represent the culture of that time?

It represents the culture of that time because the image they had of a perfect man with muscles and the propositions, the David covers those so it was something to reaffirm these beliefs 

Why and what does it represent something you really fond of that time or period?

The things that I liked the most about this period called renascence is the way the humans perceived what they called the perfect man, however mostly of the people in that time did not comply with those characteristics.

Another thing I like it what we discuss in class about the postures, the posture of the David it is not an easy posture and it not a very common posture either

 Why do you like that particular artist that much?

I liked this piece of art not the artist but the piece I founded it interesting and “perfect”, and especially beautiful because when you see the original its something impressive, cause the size of it and the perfection it has.

Why does it represent the history of that time.

In that time, all the paintings were focused on religion and Christianity.

The Last Supper was the last meal Jesus shared with his Twelve Apostles and disciples before his death. Is a 15th century (renaissance) mural painting in Milan created by Leonardo da Vinci for his patron and his duchess.

Why does it represent the culture of that time.

You may think this painting is a fresco, one of the techniques seen in many paintings in the renaissance, but this is a usual mistake, if it were a fresco we would still have it in great conditions. The technique used by Leonardo to paint this was tempera on dry plaster.

Why and what does it represent something you really fond of that time or period.

I find very interesting that all the great painters of the renaissance, they maybe never got a chance to express themselves through their paintings because they mostly painted for the Catholic Church, so all the paintings have a similar meaning. I’m sure that if they did painted different stuff, we could get to know the real artistic side of the painter.

Why do you like that particular artist that much.

as we all know Leonardo da Vinci is one of the greatest painters of the renaissance and some say the father of renaissance. I like the way he wanted to create a new way of panting and discover new stuff like this technique. I like the fact that the painting is very fragile because that gives some value to the art work.

Why does it represent the history of that time?

This ornament shows an image of Saint George, one of the most important characters for the people in that time. Let’s remember: this period of art is named the byzantine or early Christian art, so obviously all the artworks are based on religious themes and represent scenes or characters of the Christian religion. In that time, having faith in god and being a Christian, giving all their lives to god was the only thing that mattered, so the objective of this representations where to adore all the religious figures and to teach in an easy way, to people about Christianity. They used art because it was easier to be learned than being read, taking in count the enormous analphabetism that reigned among people in that time.

Why does it represent the culture of that time?

As I have already said, religion (Christianity in this case) was the most important issue for people in that time. Science started to be studied some time later so an explanation for all the things that happened around was that there was an all-mighty god that all could do and all could know, so it had an important impact to society and arts. Representing all of these religious images in art was a way of adoring god and divine characters and learning every day something new about the history of Christianity and also to remind people who they would have to obey.

Why and what does it represent something you really fond of that time or period?

There are many characteristics that define all of the artworks that where made in this particular period. “Byzantine paintings and mosaics are characterized by a rich use of color and figures which seem flat and stiff. The figures also tend to appear to be floating, and to have large eyes. Backgrounds tend to be solidly golden or toned.” This image of Saint George shows the same characteristics: it is very colorful, it seems flat and stiff and it has large eyes. We can appreciate these characteristics in the caverns where they used to mass and the representations of Jesus, god and all of the saints. They also tended to use many color mosaics to create images that seemed like it was one.

Why do you like that particular artist that much?

I like this one very much because it has very bright colors and shows in a simple image the divinity of the saint shown and the greatness of the Christian religion, which you can observe with only looking at the saint and all the little details it has like the letters or the saint himself or the things he is carrying.
